Sardinia is rural, magnificent, quiet. “Your rural artist's studio in the heart of the Mediterranean.”

nocefresca: rural artist’s studio

Sardinia: 2024 call open!

Nocefresca brings together artists, designers, writers and creative nomads from around the world. The residency allows artists to focus on projects while experiencing the inspiring environment of Sardinia, an Italian island rich in nature, history and culture.

As an international community and artist residency in Sardinia, Nocefresca invites artists to connect and collaborate with one another while being supported by curatorial assistance as well as local community members during their stay in a rural setting.

I attended Nocefresca as an art resident in May 2022, inspired by fellow Angeleno and artist Carolyn Mason. We both recommend the experience wholeheartedly. If you are looking for a quiet, rural experience to pursue an independent project, please take a look at Nocefresca.

  • Founder and curator Francesca Sassu was born and raised in Cagliari, Sardinia. She has passionately supported individual artists and organizations in the production of public art interventions, and facilitated the involvement of local communities both in rural and urban contexts.

  • As a curator and team member of art projects and artist residencies hosted by institutions and non-profit associations, she has sought to merge innovative features of sustainability, community and artist collaboration. These experiences allowed her to broaden her knowledge of the cultural and geographical aspects of Sardinia as well as establish relationships with the island's art scene.
