regenerative design hub
The Regenerative Design Hub was organized as part of the LA Design Festival in June 2025. I invited Adobeisnotsoftware, the Altadena Seed Library, Angel City Lumber, Mycelium Matters, IROCOH (natural, plant based dye), the Southern California chapter of Fibershed, and the Great Park Coalition’s Regenerative Sustainability Working Group, which advocates for the rebuilding and restoring of Santa Monica’s Great Park.
The Hub was conceived as a small-scale, hands-on, multi-sensory experience that reimagined the systems powering architecture, fashion, technology, education, and more. The Hub brought together natural materials, living systems, and place-based design practices to explore how we can move from extraction to reciprocity.
We got up close with mycelium, soil, adobe, seed banks, reclaimed wood, regional fibers, and climate-conscious innovation—all spotlighting design that gives back more than it takes. The community enjoyed a Natural Dye Lab and created a take-home painting with color made from local plants and kitchen waste. Tactile. Radical. Rooted in place. Design for a living future.
