Local shepherd Alessandro milks sheep, observed by pup Paldo
nocefresca
I had the privilege of attending the Nocefresca May 2022 residency. Nocefresca is a “residency programme aimed to visual artists, designers, writers and creative practitioners from all over the world. The project features the rural villages of Sardinia island as a space for research and creative experimentation, involving both participants and local communities in a cultural exchange experience.”
While here, I was introduced to the work of Pinucchio Sciola and Maria Lai. Pinuccio Sciola is an Italian sculptor known for his ”sound stones,” sculpture he forms from rock. Maria Lai finds the text in textiles, and is best known for an extraordinary public art textile project in her native village, wrapping and connecting the entire town in thousands of meters of blue cloth. The link to Maria’s work is an article in Frieze, so if you don’t subscribe, heads up that it will count as one of your free articles.
I’ll share more about my work here in a separate post.
