  • NICOLE CANNON, AIA

    Nicole Cannon, founder of NCA Studio, explores sustainable, community-focused design that fosters connection and enhances everyday life. Her architectural experience spans hospitality, commercial, education, retail, broadcast, and residential sectors. Nicole is passionate about enhancing quality of life through creative problem-solving and innovative design, from initial concept to final construction. She is dedicated to creating remarkable spaces with practical, sustainable, and imaginative solutions.

    Deeply embedded in the greater Los Angeles community, Nicole has explored how spaces can bring people together and improve quality of life. Her practice and professional associations reflect her passions for sustainable design and leadership. She is a licensed California architect and an active member of AIA, International Interior Design Association, NCARB, and the Association for Women in Architecture + Design. She is also a former chair of the AIA Committee on the Environment.

  • NATHAN BUXSER, AIA

    Nathan Buxser’s career has been centered around building and nurturing dynamic relationships among diverse, multi-disciplinary teams to successfully deliver complex, high-impact projects. In his current role, Nathan is leveraging Swinerton’s pioneering leadership in mass timber to help clients and design teams seamlessly integrate this innovative material into their projects. Since joining Swinerton as a Design Manager in 2019, Nathan has been instrumental in shaping the company's preconstruction strategies, driving the alignment of design and construction processes. Before Swinerton, Nathan honed his expertise at several prestigious architectural firms, contributing to a broad range of market sectors. A Registered Architect in California, Nathan holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy.

  • DANIEL CLASON HÖÖK

    Daniel Clason Höök is a managing partner and co-founder of Madera, where he leads on product design and development.  Daniel’s passion is to use creativity and design to solve problems. He is passionate about wood and has worked with design, carpentry, building and woodwork for the larger part of 30 years. Daniel values family and friends, enjoys good food and wine, and aims to stay creative and productive while fostering positive collaborative relationships in his work.

    Daniel and his beautiful family also sadly lost their home during the Eaton Fire and this make the rebuilding efforts in Los Angeles even more personal for the team at Madera.

  • ALLEN COMPTON, ASLA

    Allen Compton is the founder and president of SALT Landscape Architects and an alumnus of the CalPoly Pomona landscape architecture program. He has spent the last fifteen years building a collaborative office of nearly 20 staff, focused on designing meaningful and valuable landscapes at the intersection of social and environmental justice. He studied physics as an undergraduate before pursuing an MFA in photography, then working in technology. Craving something more tangible, he found landscape architecture coupled a creative practice with opportunities for innovation and narrative storytelling along with a chance to apply the structure and rigor of his physics background.

The Helms Design Center is located a short, pleasant walk from several public transportation options, including

  • Metro Rail “E” (Expo) Line Culver City Station (1 block west at Washington and National Blvds), and

  • Culver City Bus “1” and “1C1” lines (at the adjacent Washington Blvd/Helms Avenue street corner). 

Protected bike lanes along Washington Blvd. connect to Culver City’s bike lane network and provide a convenient way to get to the Design Center. 

if you prefer to drive, parking is available throughout the Helms Bakery complex, at the locations marked with a red P on the map, left. Please note that the garage at 8711 Washington will not be available that morning.
