Poetic Justice

The Poetic Justice group at MIT Media Lab is building a community of staff, students, research affiliates, and guests interested in developing new modes of social practice art that collapse content and form.

Poetic Justice is a group of critical thinkers and makers exploring new forms of justice through art. We’re interested in new forms of justice that aren’t centered around an unfair judicial system but move towards cultural systems of representation and action. We research social, political, and environmental issues and develop sound, video, sculpture, and installation works using poetic and computational strategies.

Our work questions if “Artists need to create on the same scale as society has the capacity to destroy” then how can we scale artwork and practice? How can we scale art to that of injustice?
