Thinking Through Textiles: Future Pedagogies, Recording Only

from $0.00

RECORDING WILL BE AVAILABLE THE FIRST WEEK OF MARCH. We will email all ticketed guests a link to view. Thank you!

Opening remarks 8:30, lunch 12:15, optional private walkthrough of the Fowler with textile curator Syona Puliady at 1:15 pm

Ticket includes boxed lunch* and morning coffee service. Parking available in Lot 3 for $16/day. A map will be sent to all ticketed guests.

Gather with fellow academics, researchers, artists, designers, technologists, and architects to discuss the re-emergence of a textile-based education as part of a vibrant and future-facing pedagogy. This inaugural half-day conference will kickoff a regional focus on the role of textiles in a contemporary education. Hosted by UCLA's Department of Design Media Arts, Thinking Through Textiles: Future Pedagogies will explore the intersections of aesthetics, textile technique, cross-disciplinary studies, and new material insights, while introducing opportunities for collaborative engagement.

Thinking Through Textiles is a series of multidisciplinary talks that explore the transdisciplinary nature of textiles, fiber as shape-shifter, textiles as embodied meaning, and various related points of praxis.

We look forward to seeing you!

*Lunch will be an option of meat and vegetarian sandwiches and salads. If you would like a vegan or GF meal, please select that ticket option AND leave us a note in the checkout indicating which one. If you are planning to attend the walkthrough at the Fowler, please ALSO add-on that option. We would like to have an approximate headcount for the museum.

Currently enrolled students are welcome to use code STUDENT for a discounted ticket.

OPTION: RECORDING ONLY! We have determined that we will be able to record the session and make it available on a UCLA channel by March 1. Please choose recording only if you are unable to attend in person and would like to receive a link. Note all in-person ticketed guests will also receive a link to the recording.
